Translanguaging: Teaching English as a Second Language

Translanguaging is used to bridge knowledge from the student’s first language to English.

Translanguaging is the act performed by bilinguals of accessing different linguistic features or various modes of what are described as autonomous languages, in order to maximize communicative potential. Translanguaging is about communication, not about language itself. Langauge learners can move between their mother-tongue language and the acquired language to make connections for meaning.
